“‘朗读者’与大家的遇见，能够让我们彼此之间感受到更多的美好。”首次担任制作人的董卿16日在京接受记者采访时说。

《朗读者》每期设置一个主题，由五六位嘉宾分别分享自己的人生故事并朗读能表达自己情感的文字，董卿负责串联。节目近几期主题为“遇见”“陪伴”“眼泪”“第一次”，嘉宾则包括杨利伟、刘震云、濮存昕、斯琴高娃、蒋雯丽、许渊冲、柳传志等，将于18日起每周六日在央视一套、三套晚间播出。

董卿说，《朗读者》的朗读文字包罗万象，有翻译家许渊冲的弟子们用中英法文为他朗读的文学经典，也有来自成都“鲜花山谷”的丈夫为妻子献上的自创情诗;有贾平凹《写给母亲》这类表达大众情感的作品，也有如柳传志写给儿子婚礼的个人感受。

“《朗读者》的文字和个人的情感紧密结合，朗读者的情感故事和之后的朗读内容在情感串联上将完成统一。”董卿说。

她认为，文字的作用是准确地传递信息、传递情感，文学之所以能够打动人心，是因为文学本身就是对共通情感的精准描述。“《朗读者》就是朗读的人，在我看来可以分为两部分来理解，朗读是传播文字，而人就是展示生命。”

据介绍，相比于文字，《朗读者》更注重“人”，节目不但要塑造立体的人，更是通过情感的纽带联系不同时空的生命。

董卿说，针对不同主题，每一位嘉宾都带着自己的故事来讲述。在来到《朗读者》之前，每一位嘉宾都有自己的社会角色，而《朗读者》要呈现出他们作为“情感人”的一面。

“柳传志是著名的企业家，但《朗读者》中他的身份却是一名再普通不过的父亲，他要朗读在儿子婚礼上的讲话，那种紧张、兴奋和幸福综合的复杂情感是他最真实的内心。”董卿说，“世界环球小姐张梓琳要给女儿读的作品是刘瑜写给孩子的《愿你慢慢长大》，观众能够感受到文字背后那颗跳动的心脏。”

首次作为制作人的董卿，谈及做《朗读者》的初衷时说，几乎所有综艺节目形态她都已经尝试过，她需要改变，这是《朗读者》诞生的偶然性，但从社会和行业发展的趋势来看，《朗读者》的诞生又成为一种必然。

从《汉字听写大会》《中国成语大会》《中国诗词大会》到《传承者》《非常传奇》，严肃的文化类节目近年来不断走红荧屏。正如主持人白岩松所说，董卿制作并主持的《朗读者》有着对中国文化的传承意义，“《朗读者》是一个回归本源的过程，朗读虽然是一个现代的字眼，但是中国文化一直以来多是以读、说的形式进行传承的”。
