水洞沟还是我国明代长城、烽燧、城堡、沟堑、藏兵洞、大峡谷、墩台等军事防御建筑大观园,是中国目前唯一保存最为完整的长城立体军事防御体系。水洞沟距首府银川19公里,距机场仅15分钟的车程,银青高速及辅道穿景区而过,交通便捷,有近距城市远离闹市的优势。
